Negusa Tsehaya, Board President, is from the Tembien Province in Ethiopia. He immigrated to the United States with his family in 1996. They lived in Boston, Massachusetts and St. Paul, Minnesota before making their way to Denver, Colorado in 2001. The Rocky Mountains of Colorado reminded them of the mountains in Tembien – they knew they had found their new home.
While in Ethiopia, Neguse worked as a trainer for the government. Dissatisfied due to the conflict between Ethiopia and Eritrea, he made the decision to come to the United States. While in Denver, he has driven for Uber as well as owned and operated his own import/export business.
Neguse lives in Denver’s Stapleton neighborhood with his wife and three children. He attends the Ethiopian Orthodox Church. He is dedicated to the Ras Alula Development Organization and the members’ efforts to improve the lives of the people of his home country through education and sustainable program development.
